42 Weeks - Eviction Notice Posted

Due Date + 14 Days

Well, we had our 42 week appointment this morning. The baby is still very strong, very healthy and very happy right where it is (up in my ribs). But the eviction notice has been posted and its days in this watery environment are now numbered. They have scheduled me for an induction on Monday. This will mean being admitted to Yale-New Haven Hospital Sunday night and getting this started Monday morning. The baby now has only 4 days to vacate the premise or its being evicted ;-)

As much as Ben and I really wanted to avoid the whole induction process, there is something comforting about knowing that I can’t really be pregnant forever! Our midwife also pointed out that in lots of cases the baby comes right before the induction starts. I keep thinking about a Tom Chapin song that we listened to when we were little “In The Nick of Time”. It is about parents calling kids to do things and kids not responding right away; the main chorus was “In the nick, nick, nick in the nick of time; that when kids arrive. Not 1, not 2, not 3, not 4, but in the nick of time on 5”. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed that we are going to have a “Nick of time on 5” baby.

aaaah! Kate, this is trying I am sure. But let me assure you that you and Ben will look at each other with bleary eyes at 4:10AM after a 2 hour nap from the last feeding and say, "And we were in a hurry to do this because???" It will all go well. Take care.

Yeah, I guess you would look kinda funny with a teenager in your belly (I mean, really, how would they slam doors?)

: )

I'm glad that you do feel some relief with finally having a date to count down to. It will be here soon.

(P.S. My mom wanted me to tell you that she's thinking about you, and is sending you and Ben well wishes)
