It is a Thuma!

After 42.5 long weeks of waiting and 44 very long hours of labor we FINALLY got to meet our beautiful baby girl!! Margaret Hope Thuma arrived at 5:21PM on June 9, 2008. She weighed in at 7lb 6.5oz and measured a very impressive 21.5” long! Her legs are so long that Grandma is convinced she could have a future as a Rockette (more on this to follow). Margaret scored a solid 9 & 9 on her 1 minute and 5 minute Apgar tests, and her proud parents are already convinced that she is gifted.

The baby was placed on Mom's chest after being examined and cleaned. Mom and Dad now faced the difficult decision of what to name this beautiful child (yes, I know we had PLENTY of time to decide on this before, but we both wanted to meet our baby and see what felt right). The first name, Margaret seemed instantly obvious to both of us, but we were not immediately in agreement on the middle name. After a minute of reflection baby Margaret reached up and grabbed one of the three rings (faith, hope and love) on Katherine’s necklace. She picked Hope… Decision made.
